Voices from the Past – SPOON RIVER ANTHOLOGY

BLC is sending out a casting call! We are looking for folks to join us in a recorded reading of Spoon River Anthology. Sign up to be a part of our all star cast.

Spoon River Anthology (1915), by Edgar Lee Masters, is a collection of short free verse poems that collectively narrates the epitaphs of the residents of Spoon River, a fictional small town named after the real Spoon River that ran near Masters’ home town of Lewistown, Illinois. The aim of the poems is to demystify rural and small town American life. These brief but evocative first-person narratives are a great performance piece for collective impromptu staging. Participants will receive their ‘character’ description and the poem by that character.

A Zoom link will be sent one day in advance, and on the day/time we will all “sit on the collective stage” and perform our pieces. A Moderator will introduce the Anthology, and there will be time after the readings for comments and reactions. You will love being a part of this! Inspiring! Uplifting! Empowering!

We're sorry, but all tickets sales have ended because the event is expired.
